COMMUNITY SERVICE
EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Feeding Families - Food Pantry Distribution on Tuesday, Fort White Community Center at 12:00 pm. Food insecurity and drug use are closely connected in the context of poverty according to some studies. Some findings suggest a high degree of poverty among study participants, but particularly among drug users. Drug users were more likely to be food insecure and be exposed to increasingly severe food sufficiency problems. To help with this problem within the areas we serve our goal is to also help reduce drug use by providing a source of food security. We strive to promote community service that will end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture and promote living a healthy, drug free lifestyle.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Buckets of Hope (Homeless Initiative) Helping the Hopeless
The mission is to provide veterans with much needed supplies to our homeless population. We collect used buckets of various sizes from local businesses. The youth clean and fill them with staples of rice, beans, noodles, etc. and then we deliver them to the identified homeless communities living in our local forests. Each bucket may also contains a sweatshirt, a knit hat, socks, gloves, hand-and foot-warmers, sunblock, canned foods, water, fruits and basic first-aid and hygiene products. After assembling the buckets, an adult delivers the buckets to identified “campsites” in our county. Our approach is “sharing love and compassion. We share God’s word of love for them and try to pass that on” and offer a hand in friendship. This project allows us to make sure that our veterans know how much we appreciate their service and sacrifices.
