Our History
The North Central Florida Motivators started as a local Chapter of the Young Marines of the Marine Corps which originated from Waterbury, Connecticut. In 1959, several former Marines formed what is known today as the Young Marines for boys that mirrors the values of the Marine Corps. Their vision for the program offered leadership training and other life skills that is the bedrock for boys and girls nationwide.
North Central Florida Motivators goals are the same as the Young Marines, that is to provide those same leadership and life skills to middle schoolers until they graduate from high school ages 8 to 18 years old. Because of the immense amount of community service that we participate in, North Central Florida Motivators has ventured out and started a separate program that is not connected to the Young Marines program but gives us the ability to profoundly impact Columbia County through our intensive Community Service.
Our focus, though, has remained the same: to strengthen the lives of America’s youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence, academic achievement, honoring our veterans, good citizenship, community service, and living a health, drug-free lifestyle. The core values - leadership, teamwork, and discipline - are well understood and practiced by all.
